If you answered YES to any of these questions, then we invite you to be a LIT (Leader in Training) for our 2019 summer season! The LIT program provides teens and young adults a safe place to grow and discover the leadership role found within themselves, in the camp setting they already know and love.

What is a LIT?
LIT’s(or Leaders in Training) are teens that are 15-17 who have been to camp with us at least once. Even though LIT’s are too old to be considered a traditional camper in our residential camp, LIT’s want to stay involved in camp life and help make sure camp stays awesome for the next generation of campers.
We will be accepting 9 to 10 awesome candidates for our program and preference is given to our returning LIT’s. We offer two training sessions for the 2018 season: June 18th to the 22nd and July 2nd to the 6th.
Returning LIT’s receive a higher discount on the program for each consecutive year and first year LIT’s receive a lower discount.

How does it work?
After being accepted, LIT’s will sign up for the week(s) of camp they would like to be the LIT for. First Year LITs may choose any of our one week residential and one-week expedition camps. Second and Third Years may choose between any of the residential camps as well as any of the expeditions.
At the start of their session, the LIT will arrive before the campers get settled, then greet the campers alongside the instructors. They will act as an assistant to the instructors by leading games during transition times and down times. They will also lend their assistance by ensuring the physical and emotional safety of all and every camper. The LIT will also plan and lead games for Camp Olympics one evening during their session.
LIT’s are encouraged to attend more than one session of camp, though let it be known that their ability to return is determined by their partnered instructors and is based on their performance of the first session the LIT attends.

Awesome! You may begin the process by filling out your basic information on the right-hand side of this page. Once your fill it out the following steps will be put into motion:
-We will send you the application via email.
-We will then set up a phone interview with your, review your references, and check with your past instructors that interacted with you as a camper.
-We will then make a decision within two weeks of your phone interview and will be in contact regarding your status following our decision.

It is very important to us that it is the LIT themselves who take the initiative to apply, fill out the application materials, and ask any questions. All and every response should be filled out in their own words.

What are the primary responsibilities?
- Under the supervision of the Adventure Links Lead Instructors, lead activities for camp.
- Provide supervision and guidance for campers throughout their camp experience.
- Assist primary Instructors with camp preparation, facilitation, and clean-up.
- Assist with facility and camp maintenance when applicable and necessary.
- Specific responsibilities will be determined based upon the specific camp session.
Will there be any training?
Each LIT will attend a free 3-day training where they will learn how to work with homesick campers, group management techniques, and behavior management skills. They will have the hands on opportunity to practice these skills by leading meal preparation and games with campers during their training session.
