AGES: 11-14
COST: $705
This overnight provides you with true pristine wilderness without having to carry everything on your back! From beautiful Shenandoah National Park to untouched river wildlife, this trip provides the perfect atmosphere and activities to just absorb natural life. We travel via one of our painted busses and hike, paddle and explore our way through our various activities in West Virginia and Virginia. The highlight of this camp is our two day overnight canoeing portion where we get to learn to fish, camp on the side of the river and carry everything with us in our canoe! This program is perfect for youth who want to experience the true heart of the outdoors.
Team Building - Sunday
Location: Adventure Links Base Camp
After everyone arrives we will dive right into to a day of challenging team building activities that will bring the group together and turn strangers into friends. Later this evening we will discuss packing, food and have dinner followed by a campfire!
Day Hike - Monday
Location: Skyline Drive, Shenandoah National Park
Today we head to the trail head of Old Rag and hike for the day! This is an excellent hike for a single day and will give the group great views and plenty of fun.
Waterfalls - Tuesday
Location: Skyline Drive, Shenandoah National Park
In the morning we pack up and hit the road towards our first destination, Skyline Drive! We will spend the day visiting three different waterfalls! After we have had our fill we travel to a near by campsite for the evening.
Canoeing – Wednesday & Thursday
Location: Old Fields, WV
We depart early for our put in at Old Fields Bridge in WV. We spend the day on the South branch of the Potomac River today, paddling about 6 miles and enjoying great scenery. Tonight we camp primitive style along the river’s edge. On Friday we wake up and head out on the river for another day of paddling and fishing. Tonight we stay at a nearby campground.
Geocaching - Friday
Location: Sky Meadows State Park - Delaplane, VA
Utilizing orienteering, GPS navigation and awareness development, we will hike through Sky Meadows State Park using way-points and clues to find the hidden cache. A beautiful day in a state park turns into a quest to find treasures left behind by previous visitors - perhaps we'll even leave behind mementos from our group! Campers will work into small groups with a variety of technology and roles to have a successful geocaching day.
Closing Activities - Saturday
Location: Adventure Links Base Camp
We begin our journey toward home today. Arriving at the Adventure Links base camp in the early afternoon we begin to clean up and prepare for the final evening’s award ceremony. Campers share their stories of the week with their parents while eating the delicious BBQ prepared by Adventure Links
