The New England teen expedition takes adventure to a new latitude! New England has the perfect combination of breathtaking mountains, rugged ocean, rocky cliffs and spectacular views! This is so much more than a teen summer camp - it's a New England adventure! Our summer teen expedition begins at Adventure Links Base Camp to prepare for this exciting trip while packing our gear and embarking on our High Ropes Team Challenge Course and heads north from there.
Team Building - Sunday, July 20th
Location: Adventure Links Base Camp - Paris, VA
Today we will get to know each other while packing up our gear, deciding about food and getting excited about our big adventure. We will take on some challenging team building activities throughout the day with anticipation of more to come throughout the week. Tonight we stay at Adventure Links in our tent city saying a farewell to Virginia around a campfire and under the stars.
Travel - Monday, July 21st
Location: North-bound!
This morning is full of excitement as we pack up the last few items and get on the open road nice and early. This is a road trip never to forget; we will enjoy the company, enjoy the activities and catch up on some shut eye! Tonight we touch down in Massachusetts tucked into our own little world of tents enjoying the sea breeze from under our vestibules.
Whitewater Rafting - Tuesday, July 22nd
Location: Deerfield River - Charlemont, MA
In the morning we wake up early to catch big water with Zoar Outdoors. We’ll spend the day on the river, rafting the waves and learning to navigate the boats through Class I-III rapids.
Rock Climbing - Wednesday, July 23rd
Location: Pawtuckaway State Park - Deerfield, NH
Today we learn the basics of top rope rock climbing at one of the best instructional areas in New England! Pawtuckaway gives us a taste of slab climbing, crack climbing and repelling and plenty of shade!
Waterfalls - Thursday, July 24th
Location: Gorham, NH
This morning we drive to the White Mountains of New Hampshire to visit some of the beautiful waterfalls in Gorham, NH. We prepare for our early departure up Mt. Washington!
Hiking - Friday, July 25th
Location: Mt Washington - Gorham, NH
Today we will hike up to the top of Mt. Washington. This hike is breathtaking with the views of valleys and mountains…and if it a clear day you can see all the way to the ocean! Tonight we sleep at nearby Lake Of The Clouds Hut where we will enjoy hot food, comfortable beds and an amazing sunset.
Hiking - Saturday, July 26th
Location: North Conway, NH
This morning we’ll spend our last hours on the mountain, visiting the Pinkham Notch Visitors Center before departing. As we say goodbye to Mt Washington, we’ll continue to explore New Hampshire. North Conway has much to offer, and we’ll find nearby adventure before settling down at our campsite for the night.
Rock Climbing - Sunday, July 27th
Location: Cathedral Ledges - North Conway, NH
Today we’ll travel to another northern crag: Cathedral Ledges. Day One of climbing Cathedral includes a belay overview and technique demonstration as we familiarize ourselves with the rock and pick out problems to solve tomorrow.
Rock Climbing - Monday, July 28th
Location: Cathedral Ledges - North Conway, NH
With another day to climb, we will try until our arms are dragging after conquering personal obstacles, and leave satisfied and exhausted.
Sea Kayaking - Tuesday, July 29th
Location: Casco Bay, ME
Today we embark on our three day sea kayak excursion. We will paddle to different scenic spots off the coast of Portland and camp on islands at night. We will learn how to pack our kayaks for expeditions, use proper paddling techniques, as well as navigation and safety-rescue skills.
Sea Kayaking - Wednesday, July 30th
Location: Casco Bay, ME
We continue to kayak our way around the many islands Maine holds just within its rocky borders. We explore coves and wild sea life with an endless horizon in the background.
Sea Kayaking - Thursday, July 31st
Location: Casco Bay, ME
We finish off with a morning paddle back to shore, visit one of our favorite ice cream shops within Historic Portland and head to our campsite for a relaxing evening.
Travel - Friday, August 1st
Location: South-bound!
We will bid New England farewell this morning, and travel down the east coast to home. Tonight we’ll share our final campout at Bear’s Den, a popular spot on the Appalachian Trail to see amazing sunsets.
Closing Activities - Saturday, August 2nd
Location: Adventure Links Base Camp - Paris, VA
With a renewed sense of adventure and memories of new friends, we head back to Adventure Links Base Camp to decompress and unpack.
