Program History

Adventure Links has been owned and operated by Anna and Austin Birch since 1997.  Their combined thirty years of experience range from elementary, middle and high school education, residential counseling, corporate consultation, team development facilitation, adventure programming, and wilderness expedition guiding.

As an organization, we value the authentic self, passionately strive to create positive learning cultures, and challenge ourselves to be at the forefront of outdoor and educational practices.  Our program staff create experiences that access greater potential and sustain inspiration.

Outdoor Education

As a company, Adventure Links has a deep understanding of the positive social, emotional and mental outcomes of time spent in the outdoors.  The pivotal effects of experiential education, outdoor challenges and group team building provide the backdrop for individual and team development. Through our experiential programs, we design incrementally more challenging itineraries that keep participants returning for more extensive leadership experiences. The changes and success stories born from outdoor education are as inspiring as the mountains and rivers we visit.

Environmental Stewardship

Our close proximity to nature consistently inspires us to give back. An integral part of our programs is "Leave No Trace" principles, ideals that mirror our respect for the outdoor spaces we visit. These practices are reinforced in our stewardship programs, including Environmental Stewardship Adventure Days. The combination of activism and idealism in our company practices and beliefs have molded a strong foundation for environmental stewardship that continues to grow.

Staff Development Opportunities

At Adventure Links we hire staff members that are motivated to lead youth outdoors and offer them extensive training in adventure programming that enables them to provide positive and influential experiences for our clientele. Staff receive hard skills training in a wide range of outdoor pursuits to ensure that they can effectively lead groups in a safe and professional manner. In addition, staff members receive on-going coaching and evaluation to help develop their facilitation and leadership skills. As their skills develop, staff are pushed to take ownership over the programs that they lead and the curriculum that they teach. Continual learning, innovation and personal development is part of our staff culture.
